I need to start to repair our Brittania as the small oven element failed some time ago but am concerned as to why the control panel and knobs get very hot when the oven is on. They get so hot that the knob centres have started to fall off.

Why has this started to happen and is it an easy repair.

does the door close properly and is the door seal intact

some cookers have a cooling fan that starts 5 mins or so after the oven is turned on and carries on running for 15 mins or so after use. if yours has one has it failed ?

Door seals are reasonable but do need replacing. Ahh, cooling fan, where would it be located. As fan assist is usually used it is difficult to tell whether it’s working or not. But come to think of it I can’t remember a fan running after the oven is switched off.

Thanks for that, I’ll investigate tomorrow.
