    Hi

My door seal has a 1cm rip that’s allowing water to escape at various stages of the wash and spin cycle.

Can I simply rotate the ring’s position, so the bottom sits at the top, eliminating the leak?

There are three drain holes in the bottom of the ring, which should be simple to repeat using in the ring’s new position. There are two moulded hollow shapes integrated at the top of the ring, which feel just like two separate grips to allow fingers to get a purchase for removal. That’s a pure guess.

    Advice welcome. Thanks.

    Hi

The ENR and FD number from inside the door frame will help us identify your machine.

There are very few if any seals on recent machines that can be reversed. Certainly no Bosch ones of recent vintage can be turned round.

If the seal had a piece missing on the lip then that has been caused by careless, in a rush loading of the machine. The door has been closed with some part of the clothes hanging out. πŸ™

    Thanks Don, and iadom.

    Numbers are:

    Enr: WAE24368GB/54

Photo of seal, showing moulded elements, attached.

    Thanks.

As mentioned in my last post, hardly any modern seals can be reversed. If you look to the top left of your picture at the inside of the seal at approx. 11.05 o’clock, you will see a small vent. That is fixed to a drain hose from the soap dispenser drawer so cannot be reversed.

New seal and more care and attention needed in future. πŸ™‚

THIS low cost alternative should fit.

An interesting wash load. Was it a β€˜quick wash?’ Those open zips can damage door gaskets.

    Dear all,

Coming back to you to say thanks for your help and advice. The washer is a recent second-hand purchase, bought with ripped seal, so on THIS occasion I can’t blame any family members!

I had noticed the small hole inside the upper lug, so thought there might be a issue with rotating it. Thanks for the confirmation.

Thanks as well for the link to the replacement seal – seems very good value, but for now I’ve gone with a repair using Sugru – mouldable sillicone – that adheres quite well and creates a good patch once it’s been shaved with a razor blade, to allow the seal to sit as naturally as possible. It’s leaking now just a couple of capsful of water per wash, so no real problem, but I might have a second attempt at patching to improve my work.

Thanks again for all the advice. This forum is lifesaver!

if it continues to leak it will destroy the paintwork quite quickly and it will begin to rust so putting off replacing the seal too long will destroy the look of the machine

…….and judging by the example of the previous washload you showed us it would have been necessary to press this button. Though sadly if you did then instead of 2 capfuls it would be more like 2 bucket loads of water will p!ss out!!

No bodges in here please, you asked for our advice,do the right thing, replace the seal….sorted!! πŸ˜€

    Just a point to add!
The tear in the seal. Does the tear look as though something cut it OR looking from the back of the seal did it look as though it was worn, then a tear? Are there any worn / scuffs anywhere else on the inside back of the seal? Only ask you because when the bottom suspension legs wear out the seal rubs on the concrete weight = a friction rubbed split. You would most likely have the odd mechanical banging noise too as the tank unit whacks the inside of the chassis.

The seal lip was cut by dragged clothes (especially zips not done up Total). Check the first photo and the answer is clearly obvious why it happened. User abuse, case closed πŸ˜‰

    You are very strict Martin!

totalshambles, I think Martin’s correct though – it looked like a clean tear (previous owner’s damage) and there’s no banging from drum.

Anyway, I’ve obeyed orders and have ordered a replacement seal. Thanks again.

Re: Bosch Classixx7 Door Gasket / Silicone Seal Ring

The gasket I’m trying to fit might be too small. It measures about 1cm less in diameter (inner diameter of the rear fitting ring.

I’ve bought part SKU DBT93, and my machine numbers are

    Enr: WAE24368GB/54

    FD 9302 603565

Question also sent to UK Whitegoods spares, but asking here in case there’s a Sunday night reponse, telling me to get on with the job. I’ve just tried it again and it seems a wrong fit.
