ParticipantIn the past, when my oven has stopped working when in fan-assisted mode I have bought and fitted a replacement element which has solved the problem.
Today, as before, the oven tripped the fuse in the fuse-box and the fan-assisted part of the oven ceased to function. As before, I replaced the element but, unlike before, this did not fix the problem! I have examined the “old” element and it does not appear damaged in any way. I had two spare elements and have tried fitting both (separately….) but neither work.
The oven is a Belling 648HMSI.
Any suggestions as to the best way forward, please.
Thanks.

You say the oven no longer works but does the fan inside the oven still work or is the whole thing dead?

Thanks.
The fan doesn’t work in addition to the oven not heating up in fan-assisted mode. The oven works in non-fan-assisted mode and all the other functions work.
I seem to recall, when the fan-assisted mode first “blew,” that the fan carried on working. But since I fitted the replacement element(s) the fan has ceased to work as well as the fan-assisted element not working.

OK, so whilst I am not familiar with that Belling oven, it could be that when you replaced the fan element a connecting link wire between it and the fan motor wasn’t connected?

Hello, Martin
I’ve been a bit of a wally, I’m afraid.
When I told my wife that the oven wouldn’t work, notwithstanding the new kit I had installed, she asked me if I had set the clock. I said I hadn’t and my wife then proceeded to give me this long lecture the main point of which was that if you don’t set the clock properly then the fan-assisted oven won’t work! So she set the timer and, yes, you’ve guessed, the fan-assisted oven worked….
I’ve now been given a great list of jobs to do and if I fail to complete the list before Xmas my wife has threatened to tell everyone that it was she who repaired the oven and not yours truly….
Apologies for bothering you, Martin, thanks for your interest and apologies to the other hundred or so forum members who wasted their time reading my postings!
