Whirlpool oven cutting out/resetting before heated up

Hello….
My whirlpool oven has started cutting out. This happens pretty quickly after being turned on when it has just started heating up (so it can’t have overheated at that point). The whole oven resets and has to be turned on again. This will happen more than once

Also once the oven is heated the heating element seems to be going on and off more frequently than it used to (ie coming on just for a few seconds before you hear it click off).

The oven still works and will eventually cook things fine but needs constant watching in case it randomly turns off.

Would doing a DIY replacement of the heating element be a good idea or is it likely to be something else that needs an engineer to visit.
