Stoves Q720EM built-under double oven/grill approx. 15 years old
(model# 058505047)Cooking last night at 180C in the fan oven/25mins, after about 15 minutes the oven went off, seemed odd and at first I thought the timer had finished but clicking the buttons would not bring it back on again and all the control lights were out. After a bit of panic I moved the dinner into the top (conventional-only non-fan) oven, this came on, I dialled 200C and gave it another 20 mins… shortly before the end everything seemed to cut off again.
I read the very helpful http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/fix-it-yourself/ovens-hobs-a-cookers/4162-oven-cuts-out-in-use FAQ on here and it seems like I likely have an issue with the master safety thermostat is cutting out.
If this is a master thermostat issue where could I even get one or an engineer on Sunday 24th Dec anyway. Location is Twickenham, London.
I really need this oven working for tomorrow (or we have to invite ourselves around elsewhere to cook the turkey)!Used it this morning to heat up some breakfast treats and it behaved itself to 180C for 10 minutes, didn’t try leaving it any longer than that as I wanted it to cool down so I can remove it and clean out any dust etc.
Any tips on cleaning out around the back etc. or anything else gratefully received.

I think it’s the cooling fan around the back which has stopped working, if I turn the oven on and off again this normally stays running for a few minutes but all is quiet.

Got the oven out, approx. 5mm of greasy dust was blocking the cooling fan inlet.
Really should take the cooker out and clean under/behind the cupboards every 5 years or so.Disconnected (obviously!) took the back off the cooker, cleaned everything. Initially suspected the Kigass control board, but disconnected the cooling motor and wired it directly to an extension lead to check. There’s a 100ohm 11W resistor in series with it – presumably to limit current in the event of the motor failing/jamming/something.
With this resistor in circuit the motor will not run.
Checked the motor rating, 230V, connected directly it runs fast and quiet.
With the resistor in place, nothing. Checked on DVM and the resistor is open-circuit.Where can I get a 100ohm 11W resistor on a Sunday anyone?

Some people are quite rude about Maplin sometimes, all I can say is, right now they are my favourite shop.

maplins are ok. used to deal with them by post when they started out selling just electronic components in the 70’s. they can sell a lot of tat these days but if you look up online what you want first then they are ok because not many of their staff these days have a wide understanding of electronic components
