Last night my 3 yr old hob went absolutely berserk. Refused to turn any ring down step by step; when switched a ring on it went straight from 0 to 9 without me touching anything, when I tried to turn a ring down it went straight from whatever number it was on to zero with no between stages then refused to turn off completely. I eventually switched off the mains and it seems to have reset itself and is working now. I tried phoning Prima who were worse than useless and just said “We have no technical advice”. Apparently I need to pay £90 for an engineer to come out to tell me it’s reset itself and is fine- or not.
Any advice please either on how to find out if resetting it will work or whether it’s a fault I need to get hem out to? It’s working just now but I’m terrified it will suddenly go mad and turn itself right up.

its obviously a fault with the touch sensors or the board associated with it. if the board does fail its probably cheaper to buy a new hob

the only thing I can think of is contamination. make sure the glass is clean around the touch sensors. its a long shot but its the only free one
