Model TCFS83BGPUK. Never the quietist dryer at the best of times.

Customer complained of a VERY loud noise, like a chain saw she said.

Switched on and everything sounds perfectly normal. Checked motor, both fans, jockey pulley, rear bearing, drum front bearing pulleys, drain pump, no obvious signs of any problems
Left it running for 15 minutes with no noises .evident.

Given the description of the noise I would tend to rule out the pump, jockey pulley, drum front pulleys and rear bearing. I would expect a noise like that to be something running at speed, that is the motor and fans.

Has anyone else encountered an intermittent noise like this?

    Jim.

if I am told on the phone it’s a intermittent noise I ask them to video it And email me the video. Why not do that on this job.
I have been to jobs becourse it’s not heating and find drum spider is broken and the noise does not bother them, other jobs I am called out for a slight noise which they describe as very load.

Max dry load (7kg) of damp bath towels should be enough to make it grunt ‘n squeal.
