We have a Zanussi System 1200/FJ1295. The program(timer) knob doesn’t progress at the usual pace. If you set up a program the sequence is stepped through very fast and what should take 45 mins takes a couple of minutes and of course the programme hasn’t been performed properly. Does this look like a timer problem or can something else cause the same symptoms. I should add that if you set the knob to say spin or then nothing is done.
The machine is draining water and on start up takes in water and turns the drum in one direction only for a few seconds. I have removed the program switch unit and on the outside at least, it looks OK. Is it possible to check the unit when it’s detached from the machine, like putting 240v on the motor and checking if it turns at right speed. Would this prove anything ?
    cheers
    Charlie 🙂

Please don’t do anything with the machine live, Charlie. This is a well known problem on these machines and is caused by the digital control board in the bottom of the machine. £60-70 IIRC, but “PNC” number will be required as there are several different versions.
