    Hi

Can someone enlighten me as to the actual makeup of the HPT WF series washers. Being only a repairer and not a retailer I do not have access to new machines until they eventually enter the independant repair zone. I have noticed that Ariston and Hotpoint currently in the shops have identical drums and door seals, whereas the Indesit do not. But they all seem to share the module socket cover on the rear of the machine, implying that they all use the Indesit / Ariston modules.

The Hotpoint/Ariston drums look very similar to the WMA series are they?

    Thanks for any info.

WF series have the same drum etc as WMA but use the Merloni type modules and eeproms.

As do the Ariston AVL/AVD range and a few others including some Curry’s exclusives.

    Thanks iadom

Its not easy getting this info – they look at you a bit strange in Comet or Curries if you want to have a look under their machines ➡ 🙄 its a bit 😳

I suppose you’ve all heard about the 3-phase motor on some models (Ultima it think). Because it is 3-phase, there’s a big bank of capacitors that will give you one heck of a bang if you stick your hand in just after you’ve tested the machine. Apparently, you only have to wait 5 minutes for it to discharge. 5 minutes!!! ‘Go on then love, 2 sugars please, I’ve got time.’

I just hope Merloni aren’t going to kill any customers with that!

Yep, the ultima uses a 3 phase brushless motor, so it’s very, very quiet, the large exposed heatsink on the module is live after you pulled the plug, I wait for one minute before touching it, never had a belt ………… yet!!!
Just for your interest, the three phase evo2 module is very sensitive to condensation and dampness, will blow up real fast! I’ve fixed a few, only a couple of month old, with severe charring on the pcb, the reason. In a small room with a tumble dryer.
