ParticipantHi,
The problem I have is that the machine trips my RCCB just by been plugged in, you dont need to even switch it on.
I think its the mains suppressor that needs replacing. Would that be correct ? would it cause that fault?
Not had any signs of a problem before no code.
Just in the last 2 days the RCCB was tripping when we put the oven on after about 10 mins.Thought it was that but oven is only a year old. Finally by switching of the plugs found it was the washing machine. Now you dont even have to switch it on just by been plugged in it does the RCCB.
thanks

it is possible its the suppressor but it could be other things
if you unplug the machine and take the top off. you will see the mains suppressor at the back. there are 2 wires that plug on to it that feed the power into the machine (not the ones from the mains flex). If you remove these wires then you effectively isolate the suppressor. if it still blow the trip when plugged in now then is can only be the mains lead and suppressor if it doesn’t then it could be something else within the machine

Hi,
Thanks for that.
I have done that and it did not blow it. So it must be something else.
Its strange because it briefly comes on and then immediately trips the RCCB so there is no code to see.
Could it be a lose wire?

if its blowing the rccb then its got an earth fault
try looking for the heater, disconnect the live and neutral wires ( you can leave the earth), insulate the wires or make quite sure they cant touch anything, then turn on again
best way to do it is plug it in and trip rccd, then disconnect heater and see if it does not
isolate things like your tele and any computers before you start as tripping can upset sensitive electronicsThe 2 most likely components are heater and motor to cause this

hi I disconnected the heating element and the machine works.
However I only put a new element in 2 years ago and when I tested the element and the thermostat with an altimeter they both were Ok.
Could it be the wiring leading to the element? If so how do I test that.
Its strange because with the element not connected i could run the washing machine.
Any ideas thanks for your help so far.

I would deduce the element has got an earth fault
you tested the element across the terminals and got 32 ohm and that’s ok. the fault is between those terminals and the metal case of the heater

The element is only 2 years old brought form here. Surely it should last longer then that?

It’s an Indesit, not the best and the elements on these are a common failure point.
