ParticipantHello,
I have a (very old I guess) Indesit cooker that was left behind by the previous house owner when they sold it to us 3 years ago (model # K3G11/G or K3G11S/G – going by the manual). The short summary is as below:
1. Gas hob – the smallest burner recently stopped working. No gas flowing from the
nozzle – possible blockage from a spill.2. Oven – Very slow to heat up and doesn’t get very hot (for e.g. a 1.5kg chicken takes
2.5 hours to cook in a roasting bag. Without the bag, the meat goes very dry by the
time it’s completely cooked).3. Oven does not even click on temperature under 150 C (max is 250 C on the dial).
Anything I can do to make the oven better or am I looking at a new cooker?
I’m restricted to 50cm wide cooker as there is no space to fit a wider cooker at present.Would prefer to have gas hob, if it’s time for a new cooker – recommendations?
We are looking into the option of re doing the kitchen/diner in a year or two with an extension so any immediate solution (repair/new cooker) has to be wallet friendly.
All advice will be much appreciated and gracefully received.
Thanks

hob could be a blocked jet but its gas and our policy with gas is it must be done by a gas safe engineer
oven what you are saying it the oven temp light does not come on till its over 150 even if its cold. then either the thermostat has come out of place or it wants changing

Thanks Dave.
I’m not too fussed about the the blocked jet for the gas burner.
Re: the oven – yes, that exactly what happens. The oven on light doesn’t come on till 150 C even when cold.
Where should I be looking for check if the thermostat is in place? If it is in it’s place, what can I do to check if it needs replacing or not?
Cheers

a lot of stats on these type of units clip on the back of a switch unit. It may be it has become unclipped and out of place. its behind the control knob
