ParticipantHello All,
Please can I request some help/advice on an E15 issue with my Bosch Aqua star 6.5 dishwasher (smv65m00 GB/35).
I fully understand why E15 is being caused.
I noticied a continuous drip coming from the Fill chamber (Inlet Matrix) please see attached picture with location marked (I improvised with folded Foil to redirect water outside the machine). Im not convinced this is the only place it could be leaking and upon removal the matrix does not look clogged or broken unless there is internal damage from the hard water in my area (machine is 5 years old). When I first opened the machine and when mopping the water in the base pan it did contain white residue
At the moment the place where there is water is at the very back of the machine where there is a Sponge piece and it is soaking wet. Unless I fully open the base pan, I cant reach to the very backUpon feeling round the rim where the sump connects with drum, there is no water/dampness.
Upon initial inspection, the black pipe at the back does not appear to be leaking.
Please note I have not yet removed the base pan as I identified the slow drip from the Fill chamber.I did not want to proceed forwards with a full dismantle unless entirely necessary.
Please could someone offer some advice what to do
Is it possible that the fix is replacement of the Inlet Matrix
Again, thank you very much for the advice.
Regards

If you haven’t been using salt and so then hard water has been circulating through the matrix (aka Heat Exchanger) several problems can occur. The drain vent valve (half way up the lhside of the matrix could be leaking. The air vent o ring on the side of the tank holding the heat exchager in place could be an issue. The O rings that connect the hoses at the bottom of the heat exchanger a maybe?
Other leaks could be from the welded seam of the s/steel tub especially in the corners. The sump gasket perished. And, the main circulating pump a possibility.
Most of these minor leaks can be a right bu&&er to find. :eeek:

Hi Martin,
I really appreciate your thoughts. The air vent O ring on the side of the tank – little confused on that, The inner chamber where dishes are kept it has the plastic cap which allows little water to enter. The O Ring keeping the gaps sealed appears normal (it was quite hard to undo to be honest)
The O rings at the end of the hoses at the bottom were dry.
Can you suggest how I can diagnose the following (hopefully without taking the base pan off)
“Other leaks could be from the welded seam of the s/steel tub especially in the corners.
The sump gasket perished = Not sure what this is (I understand the Sump area where water collects and the pump drains the water)And, the main circulating pump a possibility. – Is this different to below?
The small round pump connected to the Sump, i removed and added PTFE tape and reconnected to ensure there is no leaks…..the area below the Pump is dry.
Obviously without you inspecting in person, Would you suggest that I proceed ahead with the Heat Exchanger replacement. Costs £72.

Heat Exchangers don’t normally leak as a rule. They only need replacing if the flow impeller within wears or the dump valve attached fails. The O ring between the exchanger and the tub a rare failing but once the exchanger is removed evidence of that would be water staining on the s/steel.
I refer to the main circulation pump and not the drain pump. The latter and PTFE not a good idea.
The sump is the main plastic body under the filter where the drain pump and circulation pump are attached.
