Good evening! Have been playing around with an error on my Caple Di464 dishwasher for the last couple of days but have almost exhausted the options I’ve found for basic fixes. Was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

After 6 years fault-free and being well taken care of it suddenly stalls about 6-7 minutes into any cycle, dumps any water left inside down the drain, and makes exactly 30 beeps. Opening the door reveals that the ‘3in1’ light is flashing constantly, for which the manual suggests ‘Longer inlet times/faucets is not opened’.

There are no visible leaks, no blockages or drainage issues (currently got the pipe stuck in a bucket), water seems to be flowing freely inside up to the point where it stops, and I don’t think there’s been a drop in water pressure. I left the power off at the wall for 24 hours and today managed to complete a Rapid (~30 min) cycle with it empty. After loading it, it failed again after the usual 6-7 minutes and chucked (cold) soapy water out into the bucket.

I can’t find any information relating to 30 deliberate beeps, nor any obvious problems relating to the flashing light and a lack of water reaching the machine. At this point I’m open to anything else I can attempt! I’m happy to try replacement parts, but finding which parts are needed is the tricky bit.

    All suggestions gratefully received. 🙂

run the machine, as it fails open the door quickly and look how much water is in there

I am wondering if its filling up but not detecting it

Ok, I finally managed to catch it when the error happens – annoyingly it starts purging the water the second it stops and beeps!

I’d say there’s no more than an inch of water lying above the drain hole when it happens. It dumps about half a gallon of water into the bucket. Not managed to get it through another full cycle after that one random time.

When I close the door again it completes draining so I assume that’s the default process when it reaches this error state. Seems there isn’t a catastrophic fault here but a dodgy sensor or similar.

    Re: Caple Di464 puzzle

sounds like its timing out on fill, going into fault mode and pumping out as it is supposed to

don’t know the machine but there are 2 ways manufactures detect water

older machine have an air operated switch called a pressure switch. this switch needs a pressure chamber to collect the air to feed to the switch through a thin plastic hose. Poss faults are blocked hoses or the chamber, faulty pressure switch

some later machines count the water in using a small wheel that revolves when water enters the machine, this wheel has a small magnet on it. place next to it is an electrical switch called a reed switch that closes as the magnet passes. Poss faults, corroded connections to switch , faulty switch, jammed fan wheel

it is also poss the main timer is a fault and not receiving the information

Many thanks for the info. May need to bite the bullet on this one and call someone in – sounds like parts will be required!
