ParticipantHi – I’m in the process of ordering appliances for redoing the kitchen. I’m looking at Siemens electric ovens and see the spec quotes a temperature range of 30-300 Celsius. Does anyone know whether recent-model Siemens (presumably Bosch/Neff would be the same) can really get as high as 300C, or close to it? My current range cooker struggles to get to 240, and I understood that was pretty much the maximum for domestic appliances.
The specific models I’m looking at, if it helps, are the IQ700 range.
Cheers…

its all down to power
most single oven can be connected to a 13a socket but the connected load of the model I looked at has a connected load of 13.6 amps which means it needs a dedicated cooker main as it cannot be connected to a ring circuit.
the standard oven uses an element of around 2kw up to 2.5Kw. in this case I would guess they use more power and also possible better insulation as less losses means more heat

A fan oven’s maximum temperature is 240c. But a ‘multifunctional’ oven can achieve 300c +

Thanks Dave & Martin. The tech spec for the model I’m looking at gives a “total connected load” of 3.6kw, and correspondingly specifies a 16A supply. I’m not surprised that the oven is technically capable of 300C (it’s got a pyrolytic function so should get up closer to 500C when that’s running) but I’d got it in my head that there was some sort of mandated limit for consumer equipment of around 240C. I’ll be a happy bunny if that’s not the case 🙂

The only mandate being that 240 degrees Celsius is classed as ‘Very Hot!’ All types of (cooking/roasting/baking) wouldn’t need to go higher before smoke and fire takes over. 😉
