ParticipantHelp!! I have a Hotpoint Dryer (TDC60) thats out of warranty and has just stopped working. There’s no indication of power to the unit at all. Is this a known problem? Would anyone like to hazard a guess as to what the problem could be excluding the obvious, (fuse for example).
Yours Dampfully!

Obvious thought would be the door latch switch – this acts as a master for the entire machine.
Pull the plug before investigating. :plug:

Thaks for your help but the power seemed to fail while it was in use. Now no lights come on at all. Do you still thunk it could be the door switch?

It’s an educated guess based on many years experience – realistically you need a multimeter and patience to track round the machine for continuity. If you are unable to do this, it’s engineer time.
Check Directories or Repairs@ for someone in your area if you wish to go that route, or safety first if you are going to investigate.

If the fuse is okay the door sw is usualy reliable i would hazrd a guess it is the selector sw i’ve had one or two go giving this fault it could also be dryness module which is rare though.

KeymasterHello,
I’m in Australia just moved from UK and the very same thing has happened to mine. It works for about 2mins then switches off then won’t start again unless you keep the start button depressed. Any ideas would be welcome.

Assuming you have a TDC60 ? Then the most likely is one of the thermostats has tripped forcing the module controller to shut down for safety reasons. The ‘Exhaust Stat’ the most likely (located in the front drum surround)?
You may like to remove the drain plug at the back also to drain off any excess water from a possible flooded/blocked float chamber?

Participantsazzle..look for a relay behind the contol panel in the middle..fiddly to get out but common on hpt/creda condensers

Run relay not fitted to this specific dryer.
Safety first if doing any internal examining – pull the plug :plug:Penguin45.
