hello
our indesit IWD 61450 washing machine has stopped working , it does not display any fault codes , all it does is that when turned on the drain pump runs three times , then stops , it will take water in and then well nothing , the hoses are clear , there in nothing in the drain channel and the pump impeller spins freely .
any advice gratefully received

Although it doesn’t usually give these symptoms a quick check of the main motor brushes would be the first thing to do top****. 😉

ok thanks for that , will check tomorrow , is there anything specific i should look for ?
I had a experience with bushes wearing out on a previous machine where I had sparks from them , I have nothing like that this time ?

Just remove them and examine the ends of the brushes, they should be smooth and shiny, not rough and pitted.

ok then , took off the brushes , there is no pitting or marking of any kind however they are only just touching the commutator ,In my small experience they should be putting more pressure on it?? the commutator is quite dark and shows slight wear .
do you think I should try replacing them ??

OK , the bushes were the problem , new pair off the E Bay for under a tenner , happy wife , happy life
