Hi
I had a very small build up of clear ice at the rear of the bottom of the fridge compartment in a Bosch fridge freezer model: KGN33V00GB. This might have happened because I had accidently switched on the “super frost” button. I have completely defrosted the freezer, cleared out the plastic dish on top of the compressor at the back of the freezer, cleaned out the pipe that takes some drainage water from the cooling element in the freezer and removed the ice in the channel that runs between the freezer and the fridge compartments. The fridge is cooled by air from the freezer and this is controlled by a flap that opens or closes according to the position of a dial in the fridge, all within a unit on the back wall of the fridge. There are no electronics involved in this temperature regulator just some mechanical flap that should open or close depending on the temperature in the fridge and the setting of the dial. Looking at the flap when out of the freezer and rotating the temperature gauge, I wasn’t sure whether the flap was moving effectively to control the flow of air from the freezer. This panel and flap sells for around £45. If the fridge freezes up again near the channel between the freezer and fridge I would like an opinion whether it would be worthwhile to buy this unit or whether the problem lies elsewhere. If the unit cost £20 I would take a punt on it being worthwhile. Over £45 and the potential benefits seem marginal if that money could go towards a new fridge freezer.
Thanks
