Miele W842: I need to change the heater, but can’t get into the machine sufficiently!

I can’t find any YouTube videos that show how to get the necessary panels off for this model, and all the sites offering service manuals look dubious to me.

Help! My wife is getting impatient!

from memory think its an early on with the hinged front

if it is there will be 3 10mm bolts round the door opening

    if yes
soap draw out 3 screws all torx 20
    door open undo 3 screws
filter door open and unclip drain tube

then apart from a metal clip on the bottom the front hinges out from the left

Begs the question though, if you have not yet accessed the heater, how do you know you need to change it?

Thanks electrofix! I’ll try the hinged front access.

iadom, the heater is definitely the problem. Blows the house RCD instantly if the wash selector is on any setting that uses the heater, but a cold rinse runs right through the cycle, as does a spin.

We’re in a hard water area and have never decalcified the washing machine so I’m assuming the heater furred up, overheated locally, broke the housing and exposed the live element to water.

    Exactly as you said, electrofix.
