ParticipantLG F1443KD6 11kg washer. Serial no:- 007KWGG00175.
This is the 11kg machine with no tub springs and the cantilever drum suspension. The drum is loose inside the tub as if it had a spider failure with a gasket front and back of the tub …… yeah that type. :eeek:
The machine will spin empty but on many differing loads will not get beyond distribute speed then throws a UE code. It uses the tub mounted motor (no belt) and hall sensor; two problems……How do you get inside these contraptions? It looks like it’ll fall apart if the rear panel is removed; I took out some screws and it all started to move… so they went back in smartish.
Hall sensor, motor or PCB likely culprit? Pump clear and pressure hose clear as well.
I’ve only ever seen two of these strange beasts before and the more I look the less I see how they work. Getting it apart would be a start!Any help greatly appreciated!!
Steve.

I would suggest unplumbing the machine as the whole backpanel has to come off and you will need room I laid the last one I done face down with a settee pillow underneath motor should be covered buy LG for 10 years on these but If I was to guess I would go hall sensor 1st

Thanks for your reply Kaibart.
I have this feeling of impending doom with this job….. when I looked at it before Christmas I found the hall sensor (just reachable from the top of the tub with the back panel only halfway removed) had slipped from its mounting point. Pushed it back and the machine spun. Lucky perhaps, but it has now started doing it again. I have so much work on at the moment I could really do without a tiresome long winded low reward job to slow down proceedings.
So if it is really difficult to strip these down just to get to the hall sensor and it’s not gonna solve it, then my ‘self preservation’ kicks in and says, manufacturer only job ma’am. Motor guarantee could be a good place to start. 😉Unless I am just being a wuss and it’s really easy………. :snig:

No one needs to tell you this – go with your gut feeling.

Fitted a hall sensor which was actually not that difficult to do TBH……. still doesn’t generate a spin. So……….
Module or motor? Any help on this appreciated!May 21, 2018 at 7:57 am #454875aqualectric

how does the motor perform on the wash?
if you have lost a phase coil it will struggle to turn on wash under load

Don’t think there is a problem with the wash……. seemed OK on test. It reacts as if it cannot generate a balanced load for spin; trying and failing for several minutes until it eventually does but may or may not fault code UE. According to the customer it fails to spin most times. The guy is old and laconic with his replies and seems to not really give a coherent description other than “It’s still not right….”
It doesn’t help that he is my father in law’s bowling partner so I am somewhat morally handcuffed to the job. Hall sensor was very cheap but didn’t seem to make a difference so I think I’m going to play the “10 year warranty motor” AKA “not my problem card” – as the next step (buying in a module) is going to be serious monetary risk for me. I can’t see any other way to solve this.
Many thanks for the help!Steve.

its an awkward one this. don’t think it will be the motor more likely the board
Lg allow the customer to claim for the motor direct and get it fixed by any dealer. did one last year where pulley had failed and damaged coils. sent a bill and LG paid up

I’ve had 1 where the splines on the motor the part where the magnets are fitted to have worn away and cause this problem but I would replace rotor and stator the complete motor
