Hi I have a PCB with a damaged resistor on it, which I have tried to order a replacement for but the resistor I got through was tiny by comparison. So I am not sure what I am missing when I use a resistor calculator, the stripes were the right colours. If it helps they are red, black, brown(hard to tell due to damage) and gold which told me I need a 200 ohm one. Some help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks, Darren

if that resistor has failed so has the lnk chip

resistor is a fusible resistor meant to protect circuit

So does that mean something has blown it?

What it means is that the LNK chip which is the power supply for the PCB has probably failed causing the resistor to go for safety. Replace both the resistor and LNK chip and the board will probably come back to life and work fine.

You probably got a 1/4W resistor which is the wrong wattage for this job, most commonly the resistors used in this situation are 3W wire wound flame proof. They need to be flame proof as they are there to act as a fuse and must fail safely.

    RS part Nos:
525-4167 LNK304GN (I think that it is a 304 version in your photo but double check)
    485-1947 200 Ohm 3W flame proof resistor.
