ParticipantHello all, I have a Neff cooker hood, the wall mounted chimney type, about 15 years old. If has worked perfectly apart from regularly blowing the illumination bulbs that regularly replace.
However, the three fan speeds are now just two. Of the three rocker switches low/medium/high, only the medium and high speed switches now work. I’m presuming it is a switch issue since the motor still works in medium and high modes just fine.
Is it a DIYable job to change out a rocker switch or is it really an electricians job? I am not an electrician, but I am a fairly competent DIY’er.
Thanks.

Hi
Can you post up the full Enr and FD numbers please? Usually found on one of the inner sides or around the motor area. Once we have these we should be able to advise further

It seems this is the switch, a bank of four rocker switches, this seems correct. It appears to be accessed from the rear of the front panel. Presumably by dropping the filter panels out? If I can unclip the existing switch bank successfully and swap the wires one by one, I think I can do this. Am I on the right track? Thanks.

could be the switch but if you wanted to be certain you would have to test it with a multi meter
go
http://www.neff-home.com/uk/service/car … pare-partsput in Enr
item 9 on spares list 182659
typical Espares are dearer than the manufacturer

Thank you, I just posted that link because it was good picture. Indeed, thank you, Neff are cheaper. I’ll buy it from there. Just to be clear what would I test with a multimeter? One of rocker switches doesn’t function but the others do. So the motor must be OK? Thanks.April 9, 2018 at 2:56 pm #455230electrofix

if the switch is mechanically not working then its probably the switch
if the switch is operating but the contact inside the switch is not connecting then a multimeter continuity will check
although it is likely the switch is faulty especially if the failed button is the one most used we cannot be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain without testing but since the part price is relatively low its worth the chance

Yes, that’s what I thought too.
From the exploded diagram it seems the front panel trim comes off (double sided tape perhaps?) and then it exposes two screws that I can remove to drop off the front panel. That would save me grovelling on my back lying on the worktop to access it! Am I right in my assumption? Cheers.
