ParticipantHi, I am currently in the middle of replacing the oven function switch on my Bush AD66T cooker but I have found that 2 of the spade terminal covers (no idea what they are actually called) have become brittle and blackened slightly, I assume that this is heat related and they need replacing but I have no idea where to get them or even what the proper name for them is. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

the spades themselves are
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/mis34-b … e-terminal
or the fully covered version
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pack-of-25-B … xyWt5SYRN~but if you mean the plastic covers then you would need to fit a new uninsulated crimp as the cover has to go on the cable first
that would mean buying a special crimp toolDave

Hi Dave, thanks for the fast response, it’s not the spades themselves and I can remove and replace the cover without damaging it. The cover is a hard white/cream ish plastic right angle shape with what I can only describe as a little door on the top for removal/replacement and they are only on the live wires.
Photos attached (hopefully)
Thanks,

I’ll correct myself, I just double checked, there is one of the connectors on a neutral as well.

all they do in this case is stop the connectors touching each other. If there is enough of the cover left to perform this function then it should be ok.
what I am more worried about is the connector itself. what can happen as thing burn out is the connector loses its spring. So if when you push it on its loose. Squeeze it a bit with pliers and if it still feels loose you will need a new connector. Loose connecters cause heat and that burns out switches
if you search flag terminal covers on google images you can see various covers for these terminal. The bad new is a lot of them need to be put on the cable before the terminal is fitted

Thanks for your help Dave, unfortunately one of the covers is completely black and broken, I can’t see a way that particular connector once fitted would be able to touch any other parts but I will get a new cover anyway. I have found some post fit covers online but I think I will probably replace the connectors as well just to be on the safe side.
Thanks again,
Clair. -
