ParticipantGood afternoon all,
First time post here, I have a Hoover VH W654 D Water drier recently it stopped draining with no error code so I got a new drain pump but this didn’t solve it so checked the main board and found a blown triac that links to the drain pump.
I ordered a new board and fitted this has worked all ok for a few washes but today I heard a loud bang and had e03 (not draining error) come up.
I checked the main board and sure enough the same triac has blown.
There is nothing blocked in the drain pump as far as I can see but figure there has to be something causing this.I have a new main board on the way but reluctant to put in in case it just blows again. Anyone have an idea what may cause this? And how to rectify?
The machine otherwise works well it will go through all of the cycles etc up until drain time where nothing else happens now except the machine being full of water.
Any help greatly appreciated.

1 are you certain this triac feeds the pump ?
pumps seldom blow triacs. It more common on the door interlock
2 check the wiring and see if its rubbed through anywhere

Due to a rather bad design the water inlet hose goes into the outer drum directly above the drain pump. When the sealant deteriorates this then leaks onto the pump and wiring.
I have had quite a few occasions when the small wiring plug for the pump has shorted or burnt causing pcb to blow.
Inspect the small plug carefully, then peel back the door seal to allow you to inspect the hose from dispenser to drum for signs of leaks.

Hi both,
Firstly thanks for very fast replies!
I am pretty certain it is the pump I did follow the wires back but didn’t take the loom out to fully check. So I am doing that now. I will inspect the wires for breaks or signs of rubbing.
I will also take the door seal off and check for any sign of leaks ( I guess a fix for this would be to cover the contacts on the pump to prevent any water ingress?)

Or fit a new set of connectors to the pump wiring and reseal the inlet hose with a suitable adhesive.

The wire from the pump is all ok no rubbing or breaks and it has continuity from end to end with no sign of a break and the triac does feed the pump.
I can feel the seal seems slightly damp to the touch (its not soaked and cant see any obviuos water marks but its not dry) where It connects to the drum so definatly will need resealing.
I think that could be the problem then small bit of water is shorting the pump. Will get some spades heatshrink and some adhesive to reseal the inlet.
