ParticipantHi,
I went to turn on our Bosch Classixx slim dishwasher yesterday morning and it was dead. When I put the power button no lights come on and nothing is happening. I checked the fuse and the power outlet, both seem to be ok.We did have a power surge a couple of days ago while I was away at work (I noticed the electrical circuit breaker tripped).
Is there anything I can also check without taking apart the machine?
The machine is at least 5+ years old, I inherited it when I moved into the new flat so it is out of warranty.
1. Is it worth trying to get a Bosch repairman to take a look at it? It is £109 plus any parts, the call out charge is fixed?
2. Replace with a new unit which is about £300?Thanks

you can get an independent engineer to check the machine a lot cheaper then Bosch
try looking

if you had a surge it may have damaged the board especially if its a later machine where the board is always powered.
if you post the Enr number ( should be on the door ) will be letter and number followed by / and a 2 digit number
if you also quote the FD number we can date it for you

Hi,
Thank you for the response. The ENR number is: SRS43A02GB/14. FD no is 8301. Please let me know what I should be looking at repair, I am in South London just don’t want to get the guy out and go down the path of fixing if it is non repairable and new machine is not much more.
Thank you

well for a start its a 2003 machine so its 15 years old which does not really surprise me as build quality was higher then
if the timer has blown your looking about £90 for the timer but it would have to be confirmed and checked over to make sure the rest of the machine is worth spending on

Bosch sent the recall technician, he replaced some parts. When he tried to plug it in he said the wall circuit is dead and need to call the electrician. We called the electrician he said that the dishwasher is shorting the circuit every time it’s plugged in.
Before i do a third call out, is this something worth repairing or should I just get a new dishwasher?

if its blowing your trip when its plugged in then the machine has an earth fault. It is difficult to day what is causing this without an inspection but my guess is there may be a leak of some kind causing it. it could be as simple as the mains suppressor which would be a cheap fix
its one of those decisions you either take the bull by the horns and get someone to look but I am a bit perplexed by the Bosch engineer saying your socket was faulty. He should know better than that
