My Hotpoint DWF 30 has just made the popping sound, given off a burning smell and stopped working. The MCB & RCD tripped on the consumer unit, but the 13 amp fuse in the plug is ok (tried it in the kettle). I assume that’s pretty common as the RCD and MCB will be more sensitive than a plug fuse.

Unlike some other posts I’ve seen on here, there is no blackening on the plug or on the machine itself.

Does anyone have any advice on how best to identify which part has blown?

    Thanks

if I am right these machines are Bosch built and some of them were recalled due to this very problem

if you look at the top of the door. in the centre of the stainless steel you will see a clear label. you may have to look side on to spot it

on it is a model and serial number
    or try

Thank you! My model is one affected and I am, apparently, entitled to a free repair. Will phone Hotpoint tomorrow.

I would never have thought of this. I am very grateful.
