    i have a rosieres 4040 and need to know how to test the oven elements. previous owner said it had a bad one. since there is 4 id like to make sure to order right

    its not wired up. ive checked for continuity and upper and lower have that un hooked. at some point the lower has been changed. im not sure it was correct as it looks like someone made a cover out of sheet metal.
    im going to see what number it is. lady said it was running hot on left oven. then went out. repair said element. no breaks help. i can send picts of monkey work

    i dont see my other post but element is correct on lower. its been monkey rigged with sheet metal. stove isnt wired so element tests with meter. what next help

    can i test with a meter before i hook up power? thermostat?

    Ok I finally got back to work on this. The reason the sheet metal was added was because the element tray was damaged when element shorted.
    the metal above element is warped.
    prior owner said it was to hot. So I’m going to wire it up and check it.
    I don’t know if element was a generic. The part looks right. I don’t know how to check it.
    should I order the damaged tray and upper warped panel and insulation

    measure its resistance or look at the element plate and see what the wattage is

    most lower elements are a lower wattage say 12 to 1400w

    if the element is correct but it still overheats your probably looking at a thermostat fault
