The main belt has come off the drum ,and it will not stretch back on again….any tips? do I need a special tool or is there an adjuster on the small motor brackets?
Curiously enough, we’ve just been talking about this….. The drive belt is elasticated, so no tension adjustment is available on the motor. It really is a question of brute force. With the power off, of course.
More to the point, why ha sit come off? Excessive loads, poor drain and collapsed drum bearings can all cause this.
Thanks Penguin 45 ,The bearings have been making quite a noise lately, would you recommend as the machine is less than 5 years old using Hotpoint for the repair?
thanks
Oh, yes – make them work. You have a 5 year parts warranty, so for £80, they will rebuild the drum for you. It’s a good deal actually, as I can’t even buy the components for that money!
Let us know how it works out – we love a happy ending 😀
