ParticipantHello all,
I have a Bosch WKD25840GB/03 integrated washer dryer, purchased in 2012. For the last 12 months or so, every time the machine completes a wash and starts the drying cycle there is a very loud noise coming from somewhere in the machine. The best way I can describe it is like a foghorn, and it usually lasts around 10 to 15 minutes before fading and the machine completes the drying with no problems.
Today I’ve replaced the carbon brushes on the motor, so I thought while I’ve got the covers off I’ll try and find out where the noise is coming from. It seems to be coming from (what I assume to be) the dryer/blower motor which is in the rear right hand corner at the top of the machine. The strange thing is if I lean on or apply slight pressure to either side of the machine the noise goes away. Then when I release pressure it comes back again.
I can’t see any obvious fault, so before I start taking things apart I was hoping someone here may have come across the same problem. It doesn’t seem to have an effect on the drying itself, but it certainly seems like it’s much louder than it should be.
Thanks in advance.

If the noise is happening on the dry cycle and you can hear the noise coming from the fan motor that is more than likely the problem or it maybe something restricting the fan and causing it to make a noise that’s where to start make sure you unplug before working on appliance thou.

Thanks Simon, well spotted. I can’t seem to edit the post but the correct ENR number is WKD28540GB/03.
Thanks Kaibart, yes I’m running the machine with the covers off at the moment (as I wanted to make sure it was running okay after changing the brushes before putting it all back together), but I’ll make sure it’s unplugged before I start poking around inside! While I was listening for the noise I just happened to lean against the machine and that’s when I noticed the noise stopped, so I’m hoping it’s something just out of alignment maybe? I think I’ll try taking the fan motor apart next week and see if anything is loose/restricting it.
Thanks again.
