    Last night, hours after our AEG gas hob was used, a sparking noise suddenly started coming from the knob area- not the burner. Can anyone help as to what might the problem is and how to correct. Upon hearing the sound, I immediately shut off the electricity supply to the hob.

    there are electrical switches as part of the knobs so one of these might have got wet

    Bad news, its a gas hob so you need a gas safe fitter to remove it and diagnose the problem
