Hello. My Smeg type 10054. DF 612 FAS dishwasher begins the cycle, washing properly for 20 mins then when it goes to the 2nd stage it sounds like an old fashioned coffee percolator bubbling feebly for a few minutes then it goes silent for a long time. Then it does some more washing then stops and bubbles again for a long time. Eventually it stops and all 5 program lights come on and stay on solid. This is not listed in the error codes.
The bubbling is like it is trying to do something but i don’t know what. It sounds a bit like a gas boiler “kettling”.
Resets I have found don’t seem to be for this model. I did switch off at the mains for a day, has made it get a lot further through the cycle. It used to give up quite soon on but since resetting it has been going for 2 hours so far and this cycle never took that long! It seems to have stuck near the end of cycle.
    Any help much appreciated.
Also, it is over 8 years old.

    Re: Smeg fault

some smeg dishwashers use a board power supply that degrades ove time especially if its left switched on for long periods. The sort of fault we expect is prog starts and fails when too much power is drawn

one of the models we know well would start a programme, get about 10 mins in and turn on the heater. This drew too much power so the board would crash. beep twice, go silent and then restart the programme. over and over

if this is your fault and you can find a local engineer who understands it then may be a cheapish fix

otherwise It may be a new board

could your coffee percolator sound be the heater being on without the motor running ?

    Re: Smeg fault

Thanks electrofix. Yes I would say that noise is the heater on without the motor.
I stayed by the machine for a while after last night’s post and it never finished after being on for over 2 hours. I decided to turn it off before going to bed and when i opened it it was very hot, so yes the motor had not been on for maybe 40 mins but the heater had.
