A new integrated fridge freezer was fitted on 7/4/18 as part of a brand new kitchen (Wickes, fitted by local experienced fitter) On 7/5/18 we returned from a weekend away to find the appliance not working so contacted Serviceforce and were redirected to our local AEG engineers. The first engineer visit – new display board ordered.
2nd visit new board fitted but appliance did not work. 3rd visit compressor problem diagnosed and new compressor ordered. 4th visit compressor fired up as engineer moved appliance which resulted in blue flash which blew the board again so new appliance was ordered, fitted by Expert Logistics who also removed the original one. New appliance appeared to be working (lights on, compressor sounds) but neither fridge nor freezer got cold. In fact after 22hours the insides were quite hot so I turned the appliance off. The electrics have been tested, the original fitter has checked all the integrated cupboard is still ok and air spaces are as standard. We have got yet another engineer visit in 2 days time but we are all at a loss to know why 2 brand new appliances have not worked! Can anyone shed any light or suggest any other things to check?

Hav they been left to settle before turning on. If they are turned on too soon the oil and get circulated around the system and cause a blockage, very unusual to have issues with brand new products

Thank you for the reply. The first one was allowed to settle, the second one was turned on after installation as the fitters assured me that as it had been standing for several hours, it would be fine.

To anyone reading the thread and wondering what was wrong with the second appliance…. it is devoid of gas. It seems as if I’ve been just very unlucky to have 2 faulty brand new appliances (with different faults). It has rather put me off AEG though, rightly or wrongly …..
