Hi,
the machine has not been used for about 4 months, and today stopped after a few minutes. The machine was unresponsive, displaying a “U”. The PCB was fried, which I replaced, after checking the brushes on the motor.
The controller is working as expected, but drum won’t spin when it should (can hear a relay engage & disengage) and the display still shows a “U”.
Any ideas?

you checked brushes but did you check continuity on the armature and field coil ?

Have now checked the field coils, armature and servo coil – all seem to be ok

in that case now check wiring from motor to board and check the print on the board for damage

Wired up the motor in series on the bench with a battery, and it rotated OK.
Checked the PCB and one of the tracks to the 8 way connector had vapourised.
When I reassembled the motor after cleaning & checking the brushes, I didn’t notice that the stator can be connected 2 ways – I’m guessing that I did it the wrong way which caused the track to blow.
Anyway PCB patched up and everything seems to be working again.
