I have Error code 40 (E40) on AEG Electrolux 64840L. It is not the door switch or PCB as I have swopped them. The drain pump works fine when the overflow float is raised. The door interlock heats, clicks over, and the door switch closes as measured at the PCB. I found one broken wire to the motor tachometer but that did not cure it. The motor wiring measures OK with no earth leaks. Anybody got any advice.
Re: Error code 40 (E40) AEG Electrolux 64840L Not door
Hi Dave I had the PCB and door switch from Ebay a few years ago. That time I eventually found a wiring earth leakage fault. The PCB and door switch tested fine afterwards so I kept them as spares.
E40 appears when you try to run the machine normally. The interlock clicks and I have measured the switch closing at the PCB. If you run the actual test procedure the error changes to E41 – still indicates door switch. If I disconnect the pressure switch that shows as an error so I assume it’s OK. One wire to the motor tachometer was loose but reattaching it made no difference.
