ParticipantHi there, we’re looking to get a new range cooker and are frankly bewildered by the ‘range’ (sorry!) out there. Must be gas hobs with electric oven, and we want a twin oven ideally. Does anyone have any opinion on any of the following?
Smeg (looked at SNZ92MFX 90cm)
DeLonghi 90cm (don’t have a model number, but similar to the smeg)
Ilve (never heard of them before, but they specialise in range cookers?)
Fischer & Paykel (the local brand 🙂 )
Westinghouse (aren’t they a re-badged something else?)
Baumatic (another new one on me)I’ve searched the forums and Miele seem highly thought of – do they do a twin range cooker? Is the smeg just style over substance?
Anything else we should consider? By the way, we moved to NZ recently, so we can’t get all the usual UK brands.
Thanks in advance,

Fischer & Paykel every time in my opinion 😀
Can you get Miele over there ? They are very good also.
Out of interest, is the F&P not a whole lot more expensive in NZ than those other brands you mention ?
Dave.

Fisher & Paykel, really? Better than Miele? 😯 I can get Miele over here, btw.
I *think* F&P is made in New Zealand, or it’s a NZ company, or something like that, so it’s no more expensive than the others. It’s certainly very common over here, and I’d never heard of them in the UK.

Well, they’re on a par really.
F&P are very expensive here in the UK, as they are made in NZ i would go with one of those to be honest, at least you can get back-up for service and spares easily enough should anything go wrong 😉

Thanks for that, that’s interesting to know. 🙂
I can’t see a twin oven range on the F&P website though. In case they don’t have one, does anyone have any opinions about the other brands I mentioned, like Ilve or Baumatic? ❓

Ilve I just don’t recognise, Baumatic looks good but can be a bit cheap and cheerful. Don’ll be able to tell you more on Monday.
