It’s actually not too bad on this model to be honest, as long as all goes well of course and the bearings aren’t broken up.
We can’t go into specific details on how to carry out repairs I’m afraid, neddless to say, safety 1st, so pull the plug :zap: if you’re unsure call an engineer.
Repairs@ and the directories should help if you need one 😀

Wicksy, as Dave says it’s not too much bother but is easier with the right tools.
You will need two new bearings – 6204ZZ and 6205ZZ (from any bearing supplier who will be cheaper than Ariston, make sure they are ZZ i.e. double seals) and most importantly a new bearing seal – Ariston part no C00039667. This only costs a few quid but may take several weeks to get from Ariston.
Start by switching off the electrics and water then take the back off the machine.
Remove the drive belt and using a bearing puller take the pully off the back of the drum.
Take the three bolts out that hold the spider to the outer drum casing and using the bearing puller pull the spider off the drum spindle.
Remove the old seal from the spider using a screwdriver to prise it out.
Inspect the two bearings, if you are lucky you may only have to replace the 6205ZZ which is nearest the drum (if the seal has not been leaking too long the 6204ZZ may have survived). Using suitably sized drifts and bearing pullers remove the old bearings from the spider and replace with new.
Fit the new seal and ensure it is square and fully pressed into the recess of the spider.
Refit the spider to the drum shaft and ensure it is fully pulled into the 6204ZZ bearing. The end of the drum shaft (i.e. the last of the round bit before it tapers down to the flats for the pully) should be fully inside the bearing otherwise the new seal just fitted on the other side of the spider will leak and trash your new bearing in a few weeks.
Refit the drum pully and the the three bolts holding the spider to the outer drum.
Refit the drive belt and check that all rotates freely without any unusal noises.
Box up and test run.Best of luck.

Er, so which bit of “We can’t go into specifics” was the problem then?
Wicksy, you are quite welcome to follow Easy Fix It’s advice – bear in mind that he is not a UKW member, and we cannot vouch for his technical abilities in any way. Sufficed to say that both bearings should always be changed as good practice. Be extremely cautious of the edges around the rear panel – safety gloves are an excellent idea.
Parts may be obtained promptly through spares@ukwhitegoods.com.
Good luck, safety first.

KeymasterAnd that makes it sound so easy…
Of course we all know better, the scars on my hands prove that.

Hi, I’m looking at replacing the bearings on this model (sometimes listed as ab1036tuk ?). On a video I watched on e-spares they say you need a drum tub seal, does that apply to this model or is it a different construction?
Any advice appreciated 8)

It does not apply in your case, very different construction and not only is the eSpares video misleading but is rubbish from start to finish in misleading potential customers into thinking bearing changes are easy and without issue…..tosh!….they only want to flog you their overpriced spares after all!
