Looked at this machine on Friday, customer said it was noisy. Sounded like the belt flapping about and sure enough when I removed the side panel the right hand side of the belt is all shredded. I moved the belt back into the center of the pulley (jockey pulley looks and feels like new) but when I turned the drum by hand the belt moved back over to the right and started to rub in the pulley again.
The drum seems good I couldn’t feel any play in the bearings. I don’t want to just fit a new belt as I’m sure it will just shred it again.
Anyone else come across this before? If so how did you overcome it? I have not seen many of these Hotpoint/Whirlpool made machines.
depends on which way you turned the drum. For the belt to centralize the belt should come off the motor and then round the pulley.; that way the groves in the motor shaft will hold the belt in line. if you turn it the other way thing can wander off a bit
