KeymasterHello
I have a daewoo ERF334 Frost Free Fridge Freezer. It is just over 2 years old and the fridge has stopped working!!
The freezer is fine except for the ice drawer at the top, the ice now melts. Although the products in the other 3 freezer drawers are still frozen.
Have you any advice on whether it is worth calling out an engineer or just to buy a new one.
Many Thanks.May 7, 2005 at 10:04 pm #134098Dave_Conway

Can you hear the motor (compressor running) ?
If it’s running all the time and not reaching temperature it will be a system failure (which I fear may be the case).

The fridge/freezer has gone really quiet. If you listen very carefully you can hear a very faint motor noise. Do you think it is a lost cause?
Thanks for you advice.May 8, 2005 at 7:47 pm #134100kwatt
KeymasterTough to say as it’s not an obvious one, I’d also suspect that it’s electronically controlled making life a little harder.
For what it’s worth, the food you think is still frozen… use it or lose it. 😉

I appear to have the same problem! About the same age as well.
Take a look round the back and see if any of the pipes are frozen.
the pipe that comes out of the back of the freezer on mine was frozen. Once defrosted this pipe looks like its split somehow. If anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know.Ian

I have just spoken to an engineer and he advised me that it is something to do with the Frost free models. apparently the circuit board inside needs its memory resetting. This can be done by unplugging the appliance, NOTE : just turning the switch off is not enough as the earth connection needs removing. Leave the Freezer door open to allow everything to defrost. I think the pipes inside may actually be frozen even though it is supposed to be frost free. Turn back on in the morning an the engineer assured me everything would be fine!!. No call out fee either !!
Hope this helps..

Thank You for all your help, but I have had no joy. The freezer packed in also and nothing would revived it. I tried everything.
I’m afraid to say I gave in and bought myself a brand new shiny separate Fridge and Freezer. RIP Daewoo.
I would like to say this website is really helpful and Thankyou all for your kind advice. I will be back in a few years when the new ones break down!! -
