ParticipantHi everyone, I’ve just acquired a Parkinson Cowan CPLA50WN, it is still in a good condition and everything works apart from the oven, when I turn it on it seems to be on full blast and doesn’t turn down after it has been on a few minutes.
I set it on gas mark 4 and left it for 10 minutes, after which it was still going at full blast so I’m guessing the thermostat is faulty if it isn’t detecting it has reached the correct temperature.
I wanted to find out if it is worth getting repaired/will anyone be able to repair it as I’m guessing it is quite old, I don’t really want to replace it as the grill and hob all work fine. Also I’m just guessing it is the thermostat but possibly could something else be faulty as well?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

there are a number of stats depends on serial
the one I looked up is about £70 plus you would need to have it fitted by a gas safe engineer

Thanks Dave I really appreciate the info, I just checked and the serial number is 002 00095, could you send me a link to the stat I would need?, also what would you expect it to cost in terms of getting it fitted (I know it will probably vary depending on location but I just want to get a rough idea to weigh up whether it is worth repairing or getting a new cooker)

a lot depends on where you live as rates in places like London are going to be higher.
suggest you see if you can find a suitable engineer and ask them for a fitting charge
try here for an engineer
