Keymaster😯
Problem with my cooker! The oven has stopped heating up. I assume, having read the other posts, that this is the element as the grill still works and the light comes on ok.
What part would I need for this and how would I know if the element comes out of the front or the back of the cooker??
Thanks

KeymasterYes, fan element faulty.
Some are from the front, some from the back and on the Indesit’s I’m not sure persoanlly how they generally get accessed. 😕
Dave will be able to sort out the part for you.

This model is a bit odd, there are some K642??? that are all gas and some that are dual fuel with different suffixes. 😕
Anyway, the element is this one in the shop for the electric oven of a dual fuel:

Please don’t attempt any form of gas repair yourself, it just isn’t safe. Youmust use a Corgi registered repairer for the well being of yourself and your family.

Hi again, sorry didn’t mean for it to sound like i was going to fit the parts myself, i wouldent even know were to start!!!
A friend of mine has an uncle who is corgi registered and will do the job for me if i can get the parts so if anyone can help that will be great as i am not having much luck as it seems a shame to buy a new cooker when this one is only two years old!!!June 30, 2005 at 9:10 pm #134146Dave_Conway
ParticipantRe: INDESIT – K642
I’ll be able to supply the parts to your friend’s Uncle with no problem.
Ask him to diagnose what’s wrong then he can either contact me directly or via yourself, I’ll need to know his Corgi reg number and his trading name etc please.
Dave.

Not sure i should be advertising another persons corgi reg number and trading name on an open forum isent that a bit stupid???
I have already diagnosed what is wrong so i am guessing your not able to help me with the parts and i will try elsewhere,
Not a very helpful forum i must say!!!July 1, 2005 at 4:06 pm #134148Dave_Conway

Please read the sticky at the top of this forum which I assume you haven’t done already ?

An email to me directly would be fine, but what parts do you need ? All you have indicated is that three of the “hobs” don’t work, no indication of which parts are required and obviously we cannot remotely diagnose this for you which is why I suggested your friend’s Uncle diagnose and let me know.
Hey, I’m only trying to help 🙄

Not a very helpful forum i must say!!!Sorry Axel but you’ll find that, almost universally, most independent repairers will refuse to sell gas spares over the counter without the production of a CORGI card as it’s simply too dangerous for you and us. Non-gas spares like seals, pot stands, knobs and even burner caps are no problem, but if it’s a part that requires the gas to be disconnected then we just don’t do it as there’s no way that we can be sure that it’s not put right.
Simply saying that you have a friend of a friend that happens to be a CORGI RGI doesn’t cut it without proof to back that up, anyone can say they can do the job, without proof how are we to know that you’re competent and safe? And in fact we would insist that a scan of the relevant CORGI card was emailed before we released any gas spares.
There is no issue with handing out anyone’s CORGI details for verification, that’s the whole pointof the system that’s in place and they are openly advertised where available and can be checked with CORGI and/or the RGI in question. That’s so that the public can verify that someone that says they are CORGI registered actually is what they claim to be.
You may think that that isn’t helpful and that’s your call, but I tend to think that not allowing people to potentially kill themselves or members of their family is just a tad more important than saving a few quid and making sure that the job is done safely, properly and in accordance with the law. We have to draw the line where people’s safety could be put at risk, it’s that simple.
That’s the policy on gas spares within UK Whitegoods and that’s the policy applied to most major manufacturer’s agents as a general rule. I doubt if Indesit would supply a gas spare to a member of the public either and the above is why and, as Dave says, if your friend wants to send us in a scan of his CORGI card there’s no problem whatsoever and we can easily supply gas spares to him.

hello!
i have an identical problem to a previous poster on this site:
“Problem with my cooker! The oven has stopped heating up. I assume, having read the other posts, that this is the element as the grill still works and the light comes on ok.
What part would I need for this and how would I know if the element comes out of the front or the back of the cooker??”
i understand that this is the relevant element:
“This model is a bit odd, there are some K642??? that are all gas and some that are dual fuel with different suffixes.
Anyway, the element is this one in the shop for the electric oven of a dual fuel:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … cts_id=115“
however, is there a difference between a k642 vs/g and k642 v/g
with regard to this element?is the element something i can fit myself?
any help gratefully recieved! 😀

Both of the models you mention drdannyace take the same fan element, the one the link points to in the shop 🙂
Pretty straightforward, you’ll find the answers you need in this forum 😉
