ParticipantI have an AEG Lavamat Turbo Protex washer dryer. Prod number is 914605605 00, model number is L75480WD. Power seems to be cycling on and off
The machine doesn’t seem to have constant power to the front panel – LEDs and display on the front panel start normally but then go off, like its been powered off. Then it comes back and cycles through this on/off sequence for every few seconds.
No errors codes, just switches off, then back on
I’m hoping someone will know what might cause this?thanks

well I have ideas some good some bad
inside the timer is a power supply. normally in this case I would expect a switch mode chip that converts 300 volts DC to 12v DC or something similar
so it will be either this chip failed or a timer board failure
there are 2 scenarios that make sense.
1 the chip starts up and produces an output voltage and then the chip crashes and switches off and repeat’s2 the chip start up and the panel comes to life then a faulty chip somewhere else on the panel starts drawing too much current so the chip closes down as a safety measure. it then restarts and repeats
if its not the main chip there sometimes other regulator chip to get 5 volt for the processor like 7805 series or the like. had these go faulty as well

thanks Dave, I’ve had a play with it – it does the same thing on every cycle I’ve tried.
It runs for up to 6 minutes then crashes out. Display blanks and LED goes off, like its lost power, then comes back on at the same point it went off – this cycle then repeating every 2 seconds.
Is the easiest diagnostic to replace the most likely cause, or are the bits expensive so I should get a multimeter out?
cheers

electronic bits really cheap. So its always worth a try
had a miele doing something similar about 5 years ago. unit would start ok but would die about 50 seconds in. turned out to be the 5volt regulator chip. when I put my meter on it the voltage dropped slowly until the computer crashed. In my case you had to turn it off to get it to repeat

that makes sense – seems like the voltage is falling below a threshold.
I’m struggling to find a test point to pick up the 5v, or even find where the regulator is on this machine. Is it likely just a 7805 I’m looking for?
cheers

initial regulator will be a 7 leg chip. look for the high voltage cap that store 300vDC will be next to those chip will be LNK??? or TNY ??? its a 7 leg chip. look for low voltage cap near this this and measure output voltage
the other chip may or may not be there but if it is will be a 3 leg device and should look similar to a large traic. 7805 is just an example you can search a picture on
if you want to post quality pics of the board I will try and spot them

this is a picture of an Electrolux board added by Hollytree technical
you can see the poer supply chip circled. High volt caps to the left low voltage to the right

Think I found it ok – LNK362GN. I don’t see the 3 leg component.
I’m looking for a pin diagram to work out which is gnd and which pin is 5vSeptember 3, 2018 at 9:31 pm #457689Kev1nC

attached photo – I think its the LNK component towards the bottom left.

board may not need a second power supply chip
suggest you check the voltages on three caps and see if voltage drops

thanks Dave – I did check voltage on the cable connection on the board going to the front panel last night. It was sitting at 6.12V, then dropped to 3.7V at which point the relays started clicking and the front panel went off. Took longer to come back, but when it did, it was at 7.5V, then dropped again.
