ParticipantBelling confirms their 20cm double ring Halogen from 20 years back is discontinued.
But I can easy locate a 200mm 1.8kw Ceramic……..can I swap this for the missing Halogen, or will it need a new regulator and wiring?September 3, 2018 at 2:09 pm #457704electrofix

a lots depends on how it is controlled. if it uses the same regulator as the other rings then will prob be ok
if it uses a 6 position switch then the wiring will changeDave

Yes, you’d need a new regulator and it’d need rewired.
It will not be easy.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Belling-1-8k … SwvRlbVarethis ring is a dual circuit ring where you turn the knob one way to light up just the middle and turn it the other way to light it all up. if the ring you are replacing does not have this function then you need a single circuit ring

Halogens were all the rage 20 year back so I am guessing mine isnt the only one to fail – according to Belling parts line they have been discontinued a while, so surely others have been in the same boat?
If you can just straight swap a ceramic in its place then its no big deal, but if you cant then there must be loads of electric hobs out there missing one working ring.
I have a had a look round the site but cant find a similar discussion – anyone recall it being discussed before??September 4, 2018 at 3:28 pm #457709kwatt

I think you’ll find more of them have been scrapped or, as you say, people just live with it.
There’s certainly no easy way to convert them.

Hi
Belling cookers with halogen rings were for the better off customers due to their price point being higher and as such were not big sellers.
Twenty years ago when those models were made the life expectancy of such a cooker would have been between eight and ten years. So after eight years the manufacturer would have deemed the machine to be obsolete and would have let the spares run out naturally.
I have not had a customer in the shop in the last ten years with a request such as yours but then others may have.
