ParticipantHi
I had a problem with my washing machine, AEG L61270FL. We’ve had it for 3.5 years, so it’s out of warranty.
The washing programmes were finishing, but the washing was always cold (and the washing machine itself) even when put on 95’C.I am posting this here because I could not find the solution to my problem anywhere online, so I shall leave it for others.
So, after being unable to find explanation to what could be at fault here, and watching some online tutorials I decided to check the resistance on the heating element. Working one has about 27-29 Ohm, mine had infinity.
I have ordered a new heating element (cost ~£50) and few days later I have replaced it.
Works like a dream.
What was different to many other washing machines is that apparently they will get stuck on the heating part of the programme – this model did not.Interesting is, that we’ve been using calgon or other water softeners for washing machines, yet still our water is so hard that heating element got calcified with multiple layers of limescale and threads. See attached picture.
Also an advice for people looking for advice: If you say that washing comes out cold, someone will definitely say that is cooled down before you managed to take it out of the washing machine. Do say (and do try before) to run a 90/95’C programme and touch the washing machine mid-washing, to see if it’s warm/hot (not at the beginning, sometime in the middle), then, if it’s cold till the end of the wash programme, you can be sure that it is something to do with heating of the water. A lot of people on many posts I found tired to convince people seeking advice that washing comes out cold anyway. Oh well.
I hope this post will help someone in the future 😀

all washing comes out cold at the end of the wash. The heater is only active during the wash part of the cycle. This is then followed by 3 cold rinses
if your washing is coming out warm check that it is connected to cold water

What I meant is that is that when people seeking advice say ‘my washing machine is not heating’, they never mention ‘I have checked it by running a 60/90/95’C programme and the washing machine was still cold’. That inevitably always leads to someone mentioning that it washing always comes out cold, instead of asking if they tried to run a hot washing programme. I found it in about 7 threads on multiple forums and it then frustrates the people looking for advice.
Before this AEG, I had Beko and that one sometimes ended up with warm washing, and also required to wait for few minutes until it cooled down to safe temperature, but it was still warm to touch. -
