ParticipantHi there,
I recently got the keys to my new flat and it came with a dishwasher (Hotpoint FDYB 11011P). The place was vacant for about 12 months before I bought it so all the white goods needed a bit of TLC when I moved in. Unfortunately I’ve found that the dishwasher keeps leaking.
What seems to be happening is water is coming out both sides of the door (sometimes spurting out) and then dripping down to leak past the hinges and onto the floor.
That’s a link to a video to show what’s happening:

I’ve also uploaded a picture of the side of the door so you can see if the gap along the edge is normal.
I took the dishwasher apart and couldn’t find anything obvious, so I replaced the door seal hoping this would sort the issue. Unfortunately it doesn’t.
I really don’t want to call an engineer out as I figure by the time I pay the call out charge, labour and parts I’ll be spending so much that I may as well consider getting a new machine. Therefore any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks

have you check all the jets are clear in the bars ?
get a lot of them blocked with rice, plastic and seeds etc because people don’t rinse off the plates before putting them in the dishwasher
what this can do is make the unblocked jets more powerful and able to push past the seals

Hi Dave,
Thanks for getting back to me.
The jets seem fine. I’ve just taken them both off and run hot water through them and the streams are all coming through without any obvious issues.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks

if you open door mid cycle does there seem to be excessive foam ?

Hi Dave,
I’m not too sure to be honest. You can see in the video I posted above (@40sec) I open the door and there is a reasonable amount of foam. This was without any washer tablets, just a straight cycle.
Does that look like excessive foam?

seems to be coming out half way up the door otherwise the side would be dry.
check door is closing properly. Look for damage on inner door that contacts seal. check door is locking closed properly. it should click closed (door springs have a habit of snapping)

Have checked all of the above. No obvious damage on the inner door and it seems to click closed properly.
There is clearly a slightly larger gap at the top compared to the bottom (as you can see in the picture above), but I can’t see how to sort this.Any other thoughts?
