I have come home today to the washing machine not working, no power, no lights.

The consumer panel – all circuits were still live and nothing tripped.

Looking at the undercounter socket, switched from above and red led still showing, there is evidence of high temp and burning.

I unplugged the machine and the 13A fuse is still good.

I plugged a lamp into the socket and there is no power despite the led being on.

Plugged the machine into another socket and power comes on to the machine so all appears to be ok with the machine. Have not operated machine yet.

Looking for a confirmation of my logic:

Any fault with the machine, short or excessive load to motor or heating element, would likely trip either the 13A fuse of the panel or both.
Using the machine on another outlet will be OK.
Checking/changing the outlet should cover all recovery actions.

    Grateful for comments or advice.

    Cheers

well knowing which machine you have got would help but it does sound like a board power supply fault

It suggests the socket itself is faulty, loose contact in socket or mains plug, that is assuming the led you mention is on the socket and not the machine. 😉

Sorry the machine is a miele and my main worry was that I could plug in and use a different outlet and then get a recurrence.
