ParticipantHi my jlwm 1204 stopped mid cycle full of water.
I have checked fuse which was ok and there is no power to the machine or anything on lcd display..is the pcb dead which costs around £160..so probably not an economic repair
I am fairly competent electrically and have a multimeter..can I test anything or does anyone test the pub
Thanks Paul

1st check power into the machine, make sure you have both live and neutral
if that is all ok then the fault is probably on the power supply of the main board. Take the board out and look for chunky resistor with a value around 20 to 100 ohms. if you find this resistor and its blown then post back and we can take it from there

Hi just checked circuit board.large green resistor has broken in half so needs replacing.this is below 2 pin socket in bottom middle of board
Brown resisistor reads 0.05 ohms this sits above 3 capacitors on bottom rhs of board.position L2
Immediately below this resistor is a small black resistor… or is it a diode. PositionD7 ????? This reads open circuit…..??????And then a similar black resistor do diode position D6 below the capacitors on bottom rhs reads 176 ohms
Lastly resistor or diode? in position D4 just to the right of the green resistor at bottom middle of board reads open circuitHope this makes sense..I tried to attach photo but it’s too large a file to include
Many thanks
Paul

right so its a board power supply problem
if your small black resistor has a white ring on one end it is a diode so don’t worry too much as its probably ok
so to effect a repair I would say change the resistor and the power supply chip. the power supply chip is a 7 leg chip.
as for photo you can either shrink the size or post it on an external server. there are websites that can shrink your photo just do a google search

Thanks dave…any idea who can supply the resistor and what resistance should it be/is it?? and again same question for power supply chip,…what does this chip do?
I think the black things are diodes as they are marked d4 d6 etc..
capacitors have a c number

I get the parts like this from either rs components or farnell
the chip takes 300volts DC ( this is after converting mains AC to DC )and converts it to 12volts or so to power the board
be careful as when plugged in the voltages on the high voltage side are dangerousresistor think its around 50 ohms but if you look at the colour rings you can work it out
chip will be LNK*** or TNY*** from memory but you will have to be good at soldering to change it. You will also need some de solder braid to get off the excess solder.

Hi Dave yes chip is lnk ..there is a local circuit board company..i will see if they will solder new bits in once i have the parts many thanks paul
