    Hello,

I’m looking for some advice. I have an AEG Lavamat 971, serial number 605.635 451. I have recently changed the shock absorbers and the brushes, but it has not solved a problem I have with the machine not spinning properly.

With a light or small wash load the machine will attempt to rebalance for spin a few times before going into spin as normal at full speed.

With a full load or absorbent items the machine will attempt many times to re-balance the load for spin (even when it appears to be completely balanced) and it seems to eventually ‘time out’ and go into spin at a reduced speed. If at the end of the final spin if I reset it to spin again it will spin as normal at full speed.

I know it is supposed to abort an unbalanced spin, but with a smaller load it will happily spin with some degree of imbalance, however it won’t spin a full load at top speed even when balanced. It seems to be something to do with the weight of the load, as it will spin a full load at top speed if it has already been through a slower spin.

I don’t think the machine should be overly fussy with spinning, as it is an older model (approx 30 years old). The machine is also properly levelled and stands firm on a concrete floor.

It has been suggested that it could be a problem with the tacho, however I have inspected this and it looks ok. I did try to order a new one from Ransomspares, however they have just cancelled my order as they no longer sell the part.

Can anyone shed any light on what may be causing this? If it is the tacho, does anyone know where I could obtain one, as I’m not having much luck online.

    Many thanks

    Matt

Re: AEG Lavamat 971 Spin problem

From memory and this could be totally wrong and I could be talking kriptonite. If there is a buff coloured plastic housing looking from the rear of the machine with the back off on the right hand side that is the pcboard. Last lookalike one to your model I think there was a duff soldering joint on one of the relays and it gave a same or similar fault as you describe. On a very brief search there does not seem to be a great many parts left but will check AEG site. UPDATE. AEG site will not accept serial number. Machine probably too old.

Thank you, yes there is a box to the right of the motor when looking from the back with a PCB in. I will have a look at this when I get home tonight and solder any bad joints I can find.
