ParticipantMy mother’s Bosch sms53m02gb serie 6 dishwasher has stopped running any cycle. It is not throwing up any error codes. When turning it on it all looks OK setting a cycle and the door latch seems fine as the cycle time stops flashing as it should when the door closes. When start is pressed there is no noise from the machine, no drain pump no filling but still does not throw up any errors. Reset appears to work as normal but again no drain pump noise.
Given the lack of error codes I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what might be the root cause or where to start checking possible reasons for the fault. I am pretty confident in opening it up and doing some checks but don’t have much knowledge of dishwashers specifically so would be great if I could get an idea of the most likely suspects for me to check

ModeratorI would check the pump is not jammed first. there is a cover you can remove inside the dishwasher to reveal the pump impellor and see if its jammed. See owners book

ParticipantThanks for the reply. I was looking for where to start and started with the pump impellor as you suggested – my mother tried to clean it out and it still wasn’t working so I had a look and seemed not to be jammed. I wondered if she hadn’t put the cover back on properly though because I got it going after that. So I assume it was clogged up because it’s gone from doing nothing when you press start to working as it should
Thank you for you help, would have taken me a lot longer searching around for the things to check!

ParticipantSo, it seems its back to the same situation again! Worked for a few days and then stopped again. I have had a look at the impellor (my mother did it last time so I didn’t really see whether there was a lot of gunk or anything major in there) and can see no reason why it would not be working and seems to be turning with no issue.
As before the dishwasher seems to set a programme but nothing happens, no noise of it pumping out or water coming in and no errors. Any ideas of what I should be checking next?
Thanks!

Moderatornothing that springs to mind as we expect the unit to run the pump first
unless the door switch is the problem. if the door is closing but the electrical switch is not closing

ParticipantThanks for the quick reply. The door catch seems to register as closed as the display flashes when open and then stops when closed. Not sure if this means it is working correctly
