Narrow machine required

    Hi,
    My aged mothers Hotpoint top loader has died & the engineer says she needs a new washer. (She has old for new cover)
    The problem is the space in her fitted kitchen will not accommodate a standard width front loader. Does any manufacturer make a narrow (below 59cm) washing machine?

    Several manufacturers do top loading machines, although most are drum wash, not agitator. If you do a Google for ‘top loader’ you will find lots of info. Certainly, Bosch, Whirlpool etc do them.

    Hi Timbo

    The only machines available which are narrower than the standard 60cm widths are the slimline top loaders which are only 45cm wide. Machines you could consider are the Bosch WOP24074GB, Hotpoint WT400 and the Whirlpool AWT5108. Have a look at these in the flesh to make sure mum can manage the drum opening mechanism as some can be a little tricky. The Whirlpool has the “soft touch” opening. If this is not an issue then I would go with the Bosch everytime especially as it comes with a full two year guarantee.

    Checked out the top loaders mentioned, great. Spoke to mum who is relived that she does not need a new kitchen to fit her new washer in.
