Not been on here for a while as the Beko that was recommended here has been working well, until yesterday when it got a bit noisy. quick google suggested worn drum wheels, and indeed that was exactly what I found when I took the top and side off.
so a new pair of wheels is due tomorrow.
while it was in bits it seemed to make sense to give it a good clean out of fluff, so far so good.
It was clear that the wiring around the PCB was heavily covered, so I removed the front panel disconnected the blocks and gave it a good clean.
then time to replace the blocks.
a combination of photos and diagrams taken on removal, and things seemed to be going well.
put everything back where I thought it went. had a spare connector!!! dryer turned on at this point but didnt turn, obviously i needed to suss where it went.
sussed where it went, and turned the dryer on.
this time it tripped the ring main.
all the multi plugs are correctly positioned, the one I had difficulty find slid into a flat connector!!!!

so now common sense says I have incorrectly fitted the four single connector that come from the mains..
there is a single grey, a single brown.
then a red with yellow, and orange with a yellow/purple wire.
now there are two out comes it either blows the ring when i depress the main on button, or or blows the ring when the dry button depending on where I have the connections. i have tried all combinations of connecting.
my photo shows the single cables are adjacent furthest from the plastic front, and the joint cables are nearer the facia.

Have nothing else I can try now, has anyone any suggestions. I have lost the will to live.

there is no smell from the PCB so hoping I havent ruined this.

thanks for any suggestions, or the right order for the connectors from the mains.

right for a start off you have a fault but you are introducing another one by changing the wires

you say by moving the wires around one of the combinations bring the lights on and then it blows the rcd when you press start. That means you have the mains switch in the correct place but since the unit has an earth fault it blows you trip when it starts
you have to find that fault. check all other connections you have had off. make sure nothing can touch something it should not

Quick update, seems I got a bit of water on the motor, all dried out over weekend and working again
