    Hello Helpful Friends

I have a warm fridge but a working freezer. I have researched as much as I can and have determined the following:
    – The model does not have a duct between freezer and fridge.
    – The fans in both freezer and fridge are working.
    – I have removed the freezer back panel and de-frosted the unit for 24 hours.
    – There is no thermostat in the fridge, I checked in the light panel (also see the tech diagrams: https://www.ransomspares.co.uk/parts/brands/aeg/fridges-freezers/sct51800s0{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}20(92577174700)/ )

    Unit is seven years old.

I’d be grateful for any support in diagnosing the faulty part. I’m asking here first as it’s an integrated model so I have to pull everything out, and would be good to order the required part and then have an engineer fit it.

    AEG
    Model: SCT51800S0
    Type: B257717
    PNC: 925 771 748

    Thank you in advance!

It’s got a single evaporator in the freezer so, somehow it draws air from the freezer to cool the fridge and therefore, it has a duct of some sort, somehow.

If the fans are running okay and the target temp range is being achieved then you’ve basically got two choices, it’s a blockage in that air channel or, it’s a sensor issue.

    Hi K

I have taken everything out and off of the fridge compartment (including taking the light and fan panels off) and there is no duct. Also took off the freezer panels and there is no duct. Seems it is a cool wall kind?

Another update, been on all night and temp reading of the freezer is only -3. Some ice hasn’t frozen overnight. What does this suggest – expensive faulty parts? Is it worth fixing?

Could it be an overload or compressor relay? (Just things I’ve read about – can’t see them on the spares webpage).

    Thank you

It’s possible it’s a hidden evap in the rear wall but if so, you’ve probably got a sensor or refrigerant system problem. Either way, it’s not a DIY thing if it can be repaired at all as the sensor looks to be a foamed in one and not available as a part.

Thanks for your help K. Looks to be a replace job then.
I bought all new AEG appliances seven years ago when I installed a new kitchen, thinking they would last. So far dishwasher, washing machine and now fridge freezer have all broken!

Yeah, AEG isn’t what most people think it to be as explained here:

Sounds like your fridge is going low on refrigerant,(gas)first symptom is freezer box temp ok and fridge box getting warmer, freezer now starting to warm up, not enough gas to sustain the fridge box would need to attach guages to low side and check pressures, find and repair leak.
